The Wild Coast

The Wild Coast is a photo essay by photographer Jason Houston and four community members in Zavora, Mozambique. For this project, I sourced a new digital storytelling platform and worked closely with a designer and copywriter to create a new product for Rare.

New Tool

I met with multiple vendors to select the perfect tool to showcase Rare's beautiful photo essays while being simple enough for non tech savvy colleagues to make edits.

Collaboration

For The Wild Coast project I worked closely with Rare's creative director and director of content marketing to set a timeline, get copy, and choose photos.

Web Design

The fun part for me was being able to assemble content in a compelling way, beginning with low-fi wireframes and ending with a beautiful photo essay.

CMS Features

My favorite part of this project was utilizing the amazing tools that came with the new content management system, Shorthand.

To make this photo essay pop, I used parallax layering and "scrollmation" to move the user through numerous photos without the page feeling too long. I made sure to use every relevant feature to keep page visitors engaged.
